It’s destination number one for anyone on a hen, stag or big night out when visiting Dublin from abroad usually, but Temple Bar is so full of pubs it can be hard to know which to choose.
Most pubs are packed on any given night and the prices are largely the same no matter which you choose, so looking for a bargain isn’t all that worthwhile.
But these are our tips for the best pubs along the cobbled streets.
Anne’s Bar and Hardware – The Hidden Gem
One of the smallest pubs in Temple Bar but it is a superb spot to start off your night, more so if you’re in a smaller group as with limited space it may not be a place for a big stag or hen party for example.
It’s a cool setting to enjoy one of their wide range of pints on tap and has live music regularly. They also have a cosy outdoor area for a smoke with your drink and plenty of tv screens for live sport.
We’d recommend it most for couples or smaller groups looking for a good pint in a chill but vibrant atmosphere.
Bad Bobs
Just across the road from Anne’s is a much bigger pub in Bad Bobs, and one with quite a different vibe. Bad Bobs is also home to live music every night of the week and is more of a place to bring a larger group, it’s usually buzzing, especially at weekends.
If you’re looking for a place to have a good night out, this is probably the spot for you.
The Auld Dubliner
Further along the iconic streets of Temple Bar you will find a host of pubs that are quite similar, of course most people will take a picture outside The Temple Bar pub itself, but if you head along the road a bit further you’ll find the Auld Dubliner.
A vibrant old fashioned boozer with a great atmosphere, friendly staff and live music to accompany your pint or drink of choice.
Fitzsimons
Heading to Dublin on a sunny day? Fitzsimons is our pick with a stunning rooftop outdoor area that is perfect to sun yourself while enjoying a drink.
It’s sure to be quite busy on a sunny day but that only adds to the atmosphere, well worth a visit.
Where else?
These are of course just a few of the very many spots in the Temple Bar area but we’ve picked them out as stand-outs if you’re not quite sure where you want to go.
The Porterhouse is obviously a place to visit for craft beer drinkers, The Temple Bar pub itself for tourists and many other options – let us know in the comments where you rate as Temple Bar’s best pub.
