Kilkenny city is one of Ireland’s premier cities for a night-out with stags and hens often making their way to the Marble City for a weekend.

The city is perfect for pub crawls with John Street, the home to most pubs, filled with popular places to visit and enjoy a pint or cocktail.

We’ve picked out seven of our favourites – but make sure to leave a comment if we’re missing somewhere.

Billy Byrnes – John Street

Up the top of John Street, Billy Byrnes is a popular gastropub serving great food and a great selection of drinks.

It’s the perfect option if you’re looking for a few drinks on your night out or to head and watch a match over a few pints.

They also have a great beer garden if you’re in Kilkenny on a sunny day.

Kytelers Inn – St Kieran’s Street

Inside a building dating back hundreds of years, Kytelers Inn is one of the oldest Inns in Ireland and keeps a lot of that character to this day.

It boasts a great catalogue of cocktails, pints and does food. They’ll have live music most weekends too so it’s good for a lively evening.

Syd Harkins – John Street

A traditional pub right in the heart of the city where you can grab a pint in what very much feels like a local.

Ideal for a few quiet drinks and a catch-up with friends.

Matt The Millers – John Street

An award winning bar and restaurant that’s hugely popular with locals, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

A great spot if you’re heading to a few pubs on a night out.

Biddy Early’s – John Street

Another on John Street, Biddy Early’s is a cocktail and party bar, ideal for a night out while making your way through Kilkenny.

Home to great cocktails, service and a nice big seating area.

Left Bank – The Parade

A vibrant bar and restaurant by day that turns into a bustling nightspot on the weekend when the sun sets.

A huge venue to watch a game, meet friends, head for a night-out or whatever you desire when heading for a few drinks.

One of the most popular spots in the city, if not the most.

Brogan’s Yard – John Street

Probably the first port of call on a sunny day with a recently renovated area out the back, hence the name yard, perfect for big groups.

Inside the bar itself is lovely and cosy but the outside is what makes this place special – food, pints and cocktails are all available.
