One of Ireland’s most underrated nightlife destinations, Limerick is home to some great pubs and lively nights-out.
With a buzzing college population, the city is rarely quiet for a night-out even during the week so you won’t struggle to find somewhere with a good atmosphere.
We’ve chosen late bars, cocktail spots and traditional pubs when compiling this list but of course some may disagree – please leave a comment on any places you think should be in this list.
Mother Mac’s – High Street
A traditional style pub specialising in craft beers, whiskeys and top quality Guinness.
Since 2015, this pub with a cosy, traditional interior, has become known as a quality place for drinking with friends without any distractions – they don’t even have a TV inside.
It has also been voted as having the best pint of Guinness in the city in recent years.
101 – O’Connell Street
Self-labelled as a “grown-up playground”, 101 is exactly what it says on the tin, a modern day speak-easy style bar where you can let your hair down.
Specialising in cocktails, 101 is your best destination for a night-out with multiple floors, eight bars and great music.
With outdoor areas, a dark and lively interior and almost always a big crowd – this is the place to be if you’re visiting Limerick and looking for a young crowd.
It was voted Limerick’s pub of the year just a short few weeks ago.
The Curragower – Clancy’s Strand
Along Clancy’s Strand, The Curragower is an award-winning gastropub with great food and a brilliant selection of pints and spirits.
A beautiful terrace area now overlooks the River Shannon so you can have a few drinks, grab a bite to eat and chat with pals or watch a game on the telly to begin your night-out.
Really popular with locals as well as tourists, this really is a top bar and kitchen.
The Locke Bar – George’s Quay
Limerick’s biggest outdoor beer garden, The Locke Bar is usually packed on a busy summer’s day with food and drink attracting people from all over the county.
The views are hard to beat and when you add quality, award-winning food, a wide selection of alcohol and traditional music multiple nights a week, it’s not hard to see why it’s so popular.
Great for a big group down in Limerick for any occasion.
Crew Brewing – Thomas Street
A friendly micro-brewery and bar, Crew Brewing is a small pub with a big personality.
They specialise in local craft beer and of course they do a great pizza to go with it – Crew is a locally owned business with a great team and a real community feel.
If you’re looking for a pizza and pint amongst friends, look no further.
