The summer months are nearly upon us and it’s the perfect time to get yourself to a beer garden in Dublin and enjoy a few drinks.

The Covid pandemic and the need for outdoor spaces at the time was an eyeopener of the potential the city has for al fresco dining, and while many pubs had to close their temporary spaces since, there is still loads of beer gardens across Dublin for your next sunny evening off.

We’ve compiled some of our favourite beer gardens, but of course if there are ones we should have included, leave a comment and let everyone know.

Toners – Baggot Street

Located on the lovely Baggot Street, Toners beer garden is one of the city’s most popular, especially on a sunny midweek evening when work crowds flood in.

There’s plenty of seating, you can grab a good seat in either the shade or the sunlight and there’s usually a great atmosphere to go with all of that.

If you’re nearby and looking for a few drinks in the sun, look no further.

Fitzsimons – Temple Bar

Located in the heart of Temple Bar, The Roof Garden is actually a bit of a hidden gem, albeit most locals know it’s there. From ground level you won’t notice it with it being, as the name suggests, on the roof.

But head into Fitzsimons bar and make your way up to one of the best sun traps in the capital.

Of course, it’s Temple Bar so the prices won’t be cheap, but it’ll be hopping on a sunny weekend so you will get value for money if that’s what you’re looking for.

Blackbird – Rathmines

A little trip up the road but Blackbird in Rathmines have a lovely little beer garden area that adds greatly to an already lovely establishment.

Rathmines itself on a sunny day is a lovely place to be and with good pints, pizzas and a screen outside if there is sport on, the Blackbird is the place to go.

Fade Street Social – Fade Street

Cocktails in the sun? The Fade Street Social’s terrace/garden area is a beautiful place to enjoy some of the the bar’s best cocktails while soaking in the rays.

It’s a really nice area and probably the top destination if you’re on a girls trip on a sunny weekend.

Vintage Cocktail Club – Temple Bar

Head to this Speakeasy spot in the centre of Temple Bar next time you’re looking for a good cocktail and some sun.

The rooftop bar area isn’t the biggest so it may be hard to get a spot on the weekends but if you happen to get the chance of a seat, we’d highly recommend it.

The Living Room – Cathal Brugha Street

The ultimate outdoor location for watching a match or any kind of sporting occasion, The Living Room is a buzzing amalgamation of multiple bars and gets the perfect amount of sun during the day.

During big occasions like the World Cup, before a match in Croke Park or for just a sunny day, this is the place to go – it’s also massive so there’s plenty room to sit or stand.

Others?

There is more of course around the city and Diceys garden is one of the biggest, it being a club more than a pub means it didn’t make the proper list but it’s definitely a good place for a sunny day.
