Heading to Ennis for a big night-out? The Clare town is full of great pubs and nightlife so you won’t be stuck for somewhere to sit into a few drinks.
Whether you’re looking for a proper big night, a few drinks watching a match, a cocktail catch-up with a friend or pretty much anything else, we have you sorted.
Here are our picks of the best pubs to visit, but make sure to leave a comment if you think we’re leaving any out.
Nora Culligan’s – Abbey Street
One of the town’s main night-out spots, Culligan’s has regular live music and draws a big crowd on weekends so it’s the place to go if you’re looking for a late one.
They have regular live music, of all genres, from rock to jazz, as well as multiple screens to watch a match if that’s what you’re looking for.
And with two beer gardens it’s perfect for a sunny day with a group of friends.
Dan O’Connell’s – Abbey Street
Right in the centre of town in O’Connell Square, hence the name, this is a pub to take in some trad music while enjoying a few drinks in a vibrant atmosphere.
Here you’ll find a fine pint of Guinness, a good selection of craft beers and food served from 9am to 9pm daily.
It’s also a great spot to sip on a drink and watch the day go by while people watching in the square.

Brogan’s – O’Connell Street
One of Ennis’ oldest pubs, the family run Brogan’s is a restaurant and bar that may be the most popular in the town when it comes to food.
The old-fashioned interior is the perfect spot for a bite to eat from their vast menu and a few drinks in a friendly atmosphere.

The Monks Society – Abbey Street
Located in a building from the 13th century, The Monks Society is actually relatively new but becoming a very popular choice for a more upmarket night of cocktails.
Downstairs you’ll find a contemporary bar while upstairs there is a plush restaurant.
It’s closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but head in towards the weekend if you want a drink in the fanciest spot in Ennis.
Lucas Bar – Parnell Street
Ennis’ favourite local? That’s how they sell themselves and with traditional music, an old style interior and a friendly atmosphere, it’s hard to argue with.
A large outdoor area makes it a top spot on a sunny day while it’s multitude of TVs make it a great pub for watching sport.
The Abbey – Abbey Street
Another great food option on this list, it’s an upmarket pub that has undergone some considerable renovations in recent years.
Head here to grab a cocktail or pint while listening to some good music played loudly to get you into the night-out mood.

Any others?
Market bar – this is another of the more “upmarket” places and a good food option.
Cruises – connected to the only nightclub, nice “old-timey” feel to it.
Knox’s – again a popular food option, busy on nights out, some live music too.
O’Keefes – located just outside the main town, very good spot to watch a match. Somewhat of an old-man pub.
