The summer months are upon us and it might be time for a few drinks in the sun, if the Irish weather allows it.
Dublin is well served by beer gardens – just take a look at this guide of outdoor areas – but when walking the cobbled streets of Temple Bar you may be doubting if there are any near.
There is one in particular, that although not all that spacey if busy, is a brilliant sun trap in the middle of Temple Bar.
That is of course Fitzsimons’ Rooftop Garden, a beautiful outdoor space with little over a dozen wooden tables where you’ll find locals, tourists and just a great mix and vibe.
On a sunny day it’s great spot to soak in the rays and enjoy the many drinks they have on tap and behind the bar once you’ve traipsed up the five flights of stairs.
It is worth noting that this beer garden isn’t the biggest in the world so there’s always a chance that you won’t get a seat, but on a sunny Tuesday evening, for example, you should be fine.
Also bare in mind that with it being in Temple Bar, you will be paying Temple Bar prices, but if it’s a great venue and good craic you’re looking for, it could be worth it.
And in case the garden is full or it starts to rain, the area sits atop an award winning pub where you’ll find traditional music every day of the week so you won’t be disappointed.
Of course, if this doesn’t look like the spot for you, our list here has all the best options around Dublin city for a pint in the sun.
