Guinness prices are set to rise yet again with pubs being forced into upping the price by about 30c in many cases.

With pints as pricey as €8 to €9 in places like Temple Bar, it’s getting tougher and tougher to find value when drinking in the capital city.

But one inner-city pub, just a few minutes from Croke Park if you’re heading to a match there, is charging just €4.50 for a pint of the black stuff.

And yep, it’s not a joke. The Auld Triangle on the corner of Gardiner Street and Dorset Street confirmed after a customer’s tweet that they are indeed giving you back 50c if you hand them a fiver for a pint of Guinness.

The customer had tweeted: “I got a pint for €4.50 and I’m still not sure if I imagined it.”

But the owners assured the punter on Facebook that it “definitely happened”.

The Auld Triangle for those who have never been is a no frills traditional pub, ideal for a quiet catch-up with a friend or to sink a few drinks while watching a match.

It’s cheap prices beg the question if it might be Dublin’s cheapest pint? It’s certainly up there although the likes of The Snug in the city centre(they had it as low as €3.70 a couple of years ago) and Annesley House are known for good prices.

At the start of 2023 the average pice of a pint of the black stuff in Dublin was €5.30 – with price increases since that’s sure to have changed, but getting something back from a fiver is a massive bargain.
