It’s not just Dublin city where you should be looking for nice pubs in the capital, with some of the county’s very best scattered in coastal towns.

Malahide, Howth, Sandycove and Killiney are just some of the great places where you can enjoy a drink with some fresh sea air.

We’ve had a look at some of the very best spots for this list – whether you’re headed for a pint after a spring walk or swim, going on a summer session or just looking for a pint with a view, there’s something here for everyone.

Make sure to let us know in the comments if there are any we have to include.

The Bloody Stream, Howth

One of the favourites on The Irish Pub Guide, The Bloody Stream is a stunning pub just as you exit Howth Dart station.

Whether you’re in the coastal town for a swim, some exercise on the cliff walk, a gander in the market or just looking for a drink, this is the ideal spot.

The boozer is big and spacious, has a lovely little beer garden for nice weather and has a fine menu of good pub grub if you’re feeling peckish.

The Summit Inn, Howth

Staying in Howth, but at the complete opposite end, The Summit Inn is the place to go for a drink after looking at the stunning views of Howth Hill.

It’s a relatively cosy pub that offers exactly what you’d look for in a traditional Irish pub with great pints, a friendly atmosphere and nice food like burgers and fish and chips.

A wonderful place on a sunny day, take in the views of Ireland’s Eye and Lambay Island while you enjoy your drink.

Gibney’s, Malahide

In the gorgeous coastal town of Malahide you’ll be well served by pubs that are well-loved by locals and visitors alike.

Gibney’s is one of the those and maybe the most famous of them all – with a terrific reputation for the full Irish pub experience.

They serve a wide menu of food from small bites to hearty meals, have a wide range of drinks and it’s usually a vibrant setting to enjoy any of this.

And that’s not even adding the lovely seaside feel to the equation.

You can book in advance if you want to bring a big group for some food and drink – great spot in a stunning seaside location.

The Forty Foot, Dun Laoghaire

Many people won’t be mad about the idea of Wetherspoons, but if we’re going seaside pubs we can’t ignore this one for its great location.

You don’t need much of an explanation as to what a Wetherspoon establishment has to offer and this is no different – plenty of drink options, cheap deals and quick food.

The views from the balcony style outdoor area are what really makes this place an ideal spot on a sunny summer’s day.
