An Pucan, Forster Street

This famous, traditional pub is well-known with locals and a lively spot for weekends, especially if there is a big sporting occasion on.

And it also excels in food, it has an extremely wide menu with mains like burgers, fish and chips and the likes, salads, soup, sandwiches, plates to share and desserts. It also has a breakfast menu if you need something significant after a night-out.

Great atmosphere here too.

An Pucan food

Bierhaus, Henry Street

Entrepans in the Bierhaus has a much tighter menu than our previous entry but what they do, they do extremely well.

If you’re looking for a lovely sandwich with beautiful, fresh ingredients inside, this is without doubt the place to go.

The prices here are very reasonable.

The Skeff, Eyre Square

Serving food from 9am to midnight, The Skeff is a great spot for people of all tastes as they’ve a wide-ranging menu, starting with their breakfast options.

There is bar food, light bites, sharing options and it’s all at a decent price – so you could literally have your breakfast, lunch and dinner here if you liked.

And after the meal, why not stay and enjoy a few drinks, as the bar set up isn’t too bad either.

The Quays pub and restaurant, Quay Lane

Well-known for its live music and lively atmosphere throughout the week and weekend, the Quays is also home to some great food.

Fish and chips, stew, soups and other hearty meals are perfect to fill your stomach if you’re feeling like a drink, bite to eat and good craic to go with it.

Seven, Bridge Street

Another late bar with a really extensive food menu, pub grub might do this spot a bit of injustice as if you were served this at any restaurant, you’d be more than impressed.

Sandwiches, burgers, nachos and a full Irish are just some of the options here, most ranging from €10 to €20 so they won’t break the bank.

A great choice for lunch or dinner.

The Kings Head, Henry Street

A pub steeped in history with a menu to reflect that, whether you’re here for lunch or dinner, you’ll be able to get yourself some traditional Irish food.

Stews, fish and chips, steaks and the likes, it’s perfect if you’re hoping for a hearty meal in a lovely setting.

And it’s been recognised with award nominations for its food, so that’s all the approval you need.

Carroll’s, Dominick Street

Did we save the best until last? Perhaps, we’ll let you decide. But in the back of Carroll’s on Dominick Street is there fantastic beer garden, which is home to some of the very best food in Galway.

And that can largely be attributed to Birdhouse, one of the most loved foodie spots in the entire country.

Chicken burgers, chicken wings and just any chicken options you can think of, if that’s your thing, this is the place to visit.

Pair that with a lovely pint while chatting in a beer garden, and it doesn’t really get any better does it?
