In 2023, national media in Ireland located what was thought to have been the cheapest pint in the entire country, in a small rural pub called Johny O’Loghlens.
At just €3.90 for a pint of Guinness, Colm Redmond, the owner of the Connemara, Co Galway pub told the Irish Mirror: “Johny O’Loghlens is a small country pub, it’s very much a community bar and a local trade and that’s one of the reasons – we have to look after our locals.”
Various hikes in prices by the likes of Diageo since have made this more difficult for pub owners, but to find any pints around the €4 mark you will have to head out of the big cities.
