There’s no better reason to go to the pub than to watch a bit of sport and with summer 2024 filled with GAA, soccer and the Olympics, it’s going to be a great one.

Dublin has hundreds of pubs, the vast majority of which you’ll find a television in, but we’ve picked out some of the very best options to watch a big sporting occasion.

These bars are known for sport in the city centre and will likely be busy during the big Euro 2024 games or an All-Ireland final if you’re looking for an atmosphere.

Let us know in the comments where your favourite pub to watch a match is.

The Camden, Camden Street

Right in the heart of the city centre, The Camden brings the American Sports bar idea to Dublin with wall-to-wall sport once you walk in the door.

The ultra-modern bar which was completely renovated in recent years, has over a dozen screens including one massive one at the back which will show the big match at the time.

This is likely your best bet if coming in a big group to watch a match – they also do food from pizzas to sides like loaded fries.

One of the big plusses here is with so many screens, the match you are looking for is likely to be on at least one of them – meaning it’s perfect for Champions League nights or the latter group stages of Euro 2024.

Buskers on the Ball, Temple Bar

Buskers on the Ball mixes entertainment with live sports to perfection and draws big crowds on matchdays along the cobbled streets of Temple Bar.

They boast Dublin’s largest indoor video wall where you can watch everything from the Euro 2024 matches to Rory McIlroy’s hunt for a major in the golf to Formula 1.

They have a wide food menu, food challenges if you’re feeling competitive and a load of indoor games like ping pong, pool, foosball, air hockey and even Pacman.

Searsons, Baggot Street

In the heart of Baggot Street, Searsons is a great rugby pub with multiple big screens around the bar and surround sound which creates a vibrant atmosphere on match day.

They show all big rugby games, the All-Ireland hurling and football championships, the Euros, big Premier League and Champions League games and any other big sporting occasions.

In addition to the sport, the beautifully decorated bar is a lovely place to enjoy a pint and their pub grub menu is one of the best in the city.

The 51 Bar, Haddington Road

A lovely pub in Dublin 4, The 51 Bar boasts 11 HD TV screens inside making it an ideal place to enjoy a game while sipping on a pint.

One of the big draws here is the big screen outside for big sporting occasions which makes it an ideal place to go watch a match on a sunny afternoon.

An award winning carvery too adds to the appeal, so you can start your day of drinking and watching sport with a hearty feed.

Sinnotts, South King Street

Sinnotts is one of the most well-known sports bars in Dublin, right in the city centre a stone’s throw from Stephen’s Green.

With 14 large screens, a massive bar with a wide selection of beers and other alcohol, a great pub food menu and plenty of seating, it’s easy to see why this is so loved by locals.

This is another great destination when you’re hoping to watch multiple games, as they can show multiple different sports simultaneously so you’ll be sorted whether it’s GAA, soccer, rugby or American football you’re looking for.

It has won multiple awards for being one of Ireland’s best sporting pubs.

The Back Page, Phibsboro

One of the nicest pubs in Dublin, The Back Page has everything from good beer to pizzas to games and then sport of course.

The famous pizzas are named after Irish and international sporting heroes with the Katie Taylor being one of the tastiest, and it goes down particularly well with a pint while watching a match on their numerous screens.

They don’t discriminate when it comes to sport here, you can have football one night, boxing the next, Formula 1 during the day and pretty much anything else you can think of.

And there’s no reason to leave once the sport is over either, with board games, quizzes and just a great vibe in this quality boozer.

The Woolshed Baa and Grill, Parnell Street

A huge sports bar in Dublin city centre, The Woolshed is ideal for a bite to eat, a rake of pints and watching whatever sport happens to be on that evening.

Here they boats potentially the widest range of sports being shown, with almost every major competition in the world you might be looking for likely on show here.

With big screens everywhere, you won’t miss a second of the action and their food is great for sport watching, with wings, sharing platters and the like.

The Living Room, Cathal Bruga Street – the best beer garden

Another great sports bar with many big screens but it’s the beer garden with a massive screen out the back that sets this place apart from most others.

Picture the Euro 2024 final on a sunny day, sitting in the outdoors, drinking a cold beer surrounded by fellow fans. That’s exactly what The Living Room has to offer.

If you are looking to come here on a sunny day, be warned you might need to get in early and grab a seat because it tends to fill up very quickly.
