It’s Christmas time and the pubs of Ireland are sure to be flooded with people catching-up, going for work gatherings and the droves of drinkers on their 12 pubs.
And finding the perfect pub to have your drinks while feeling cosy is the main aim when the weather outside is freezing.
We’ve taken a look at some of the best cosy spots in all of Ireland, to put together a list of the pubs we think are amongst the country’s cosiest.

The Strand Bar, Sligo
It’s one of the country’s most picturesque pubs and wonderful for a summer visit, but also a top destination when you’re looking for somewhere to cosy up while having a pint.
The fire will be roaring so you’re guaranteed a warm visit while the staff themselves will make you feel very at home – the food here is just as good as the drink.
Make sure to check their social media pages for opening hours and days as they don’t open as frequently in the winter months.

Katie Dalys, Limerick
If you’re down in Limerick doing a bit of sight-seeing, then this spot a few minutes walk from St John’s Castle is the perfect place to hunker down for a few drinks.
A fire, live music multiple days a week, a friendly mix of locals and tourists and a great atmosphere make this pub a top spot to pick.
Their hearty pub grub is another big plus to this Limerick bar.

JM Reidy’s, Killarney, Kerry
It’s one of Killarney’s most famous public houses, JM Reidy’s is as unique a pub you will find and serves up immaculate Christmas vibes during the winter period.
The sweetshop pub remains exactly that, a pub where you can enjoy a drink and a bite to eat while still feeling like you’re in a sweetshop from the 1800s.
Old-style designs and the friendly nature of the place makes it a must visit.
Blairs Inn, Blarney, Cork
An award-winning pub and restaurant situated in Blarney and ideal for a cosy few drinks if you ever decide to go and give the Blarney Stone a kiss.
Two open fires will be sure to warm you up after being out in the cold while the Christmas decorations will make you feel very festive while you enjoy a bite to eat and a drink.

The Ritz, Tramore, Waterford
Sipping a pint beside a roasting hot fire, with Christmas decorations all around you inside a thatched pub is about as cosy as it gets.
The Ritz in Tramore is a beautiful little pub and one well worth a visit regardless of the time of year, but it’s particularly cosy and comfortable around winter time.

John Cleere’s Bar, Kilkenny city
Live music, an open fire and some of the best pints you’ll find in the city, Cleere’s is a great place to sit down and have a few drinks on a winter evening.
The pub is also regarded as the home of arts in Kilkenny with a theatre inside too so you could catch a great show if you’re around the city.

Mutton Lane Inn, Cork City

For this one, we’re venturing just outside the city center to Stoneybatter, but it’s well worth the short trip. Walsh’s, crowned Dublin Pub of the Year in 2023, quickly shows why once you step through its doors.
