It’s Christmas time and ‘Ireland’s most festive pub’ is in full swing with punters flocking to The Ginger Man to enjoy a drink surrounded by the decorations.
Located on Fenian Street, relatively central in Dublin city, The Ginger Man is now famous for going all out for the month of December, with hundreds of decorations on every inch of wall inside the place.
The winter wonderland, owned by Stephen Mooney, is made all the more impressive because there is little to no advertising or promotion done in telling potential punters about the display.
Instead, word of mouth is all that’s needed, and when you see the amount of people in here on every evening in December, it’s clear it works a charm.
So, what do you need to know about The Ginger Man?
What kind of Christmas transformation takes place?
The pub spares no expense when it comes to transforming the place, and previously opened up on just how many decorations they put up, how long it takes and who does it all.
Staff told extra.ie, they end up hanging over 2,000 baubles, they have more than 15 Christmas trees around the pub and they have around 2 miles of lights if you were to stretch them all out.
And it’s all done by 15 or so staff who get to work the week before they intend to begin their Christmas experience, with no outside help sought.
And the result is clear to see.
When are the busiest and quietest times?
The pub is open pretty extensively during the busy Christmas period, with opening hours below;
Monday: 11:00 AM – 12:30 AM
Tuesday: 11:00 AM – 12:30 AM
Wednesday: 11:00 AM – 12:30 AM
Thursday: 11:00 AM – 12:30 AM
Friday: 11:00 AM – 1:30 AM
Saturday: 11:00 AM – 1:30 AM
Sunday: 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM
And according to Google’s clever busyness tool, the busier times are exactly when you’d expect. Monday to Wednesday evening are the quietest evening times to visit, with Thursday and Friday particularly busy from 5pm onwards when offices begin to close.

The weekend is pretty much jam packed for much of the day, you’ll have a better chance of seating early in the day but it is still quite busy.
Therefore, the quietest times to visit are noonish on a weekday, and if you can only go on the weekend, the earlier is better.
And, it’s important to know that it is walk-ins only, no bookings at this time of year.
What do they serve? Food and drink info
It’s a traditional menu in here, with a large array of local lagers and whiskeys if that’s the kind of drink you are looking for, of course every second person will be drinking a pint of Guinness, while wine, spirits and soft drinks are all available.
The food menu is similarly traditional with Guinness and Beef pie a favourite, as is fish and chips and curry chicken too.
