Just a small walk out of the city centre in Smithfield is where you’ll find Bonobo, one of Dublin’s best and most popular and spacious beer gardens.
Opened in 2019 where the Richmond pub once stood, the pub which is part of The Animal Collective, which also operates Kodiak in Rathmines, Caribou where P Macs once stood and other pubs outside the city like Jackal in Navan, Co Meath.
Ambience
It goes with the same trend of following the animal theme, the name being after a species of ape, and offers a really cool and well-designed interior with lots of plants, eclectic designs, vintage lamps and a nice fireplace for winter time.
Pizza
Their pizza, as is the case with many of the pubs in this group, exceptionally made and hugely popular. It is one of the reasons that on a weekend evening you may well struggle to get a seat inside or outside.
The wood-fire style pizza is made in house right beside the beer garden so you can enjoy the smells as they are baked right beside you.
The beer garden
As far as outdoor areas go in Dublin, Bonobo is one of the bigger options so an excellent choice if you’re heading with a group of friends. Warning, however, that the place fills up really quickly, especially on weekends, so you may need to get their early for a space.
Like the interior, the outdoor area is well-designed with greenery all around the large benches which are perfect for a group drinking and eating pizzas so you aren’t squashed for space.
There’s plenty of sun on a good day so you’ll be sorted in that regard.

Bonobo boasts an extensive selection of craft beers, including options from local breweries such as Trouble Brewing, and Third Barrel. It also has a really trendy cocktail menu. It is one of the more extensive drink menus you will find in Dublin.
The venue also offers a selection of board games, enhancing the social experience for guests.
And yes, the pub is dog friendly, so you can bring your pal on a trip while you grab a drink and some pizza.
