Dublin is filled with pubs and many of them are specialists when it comes to food, with quality grub being served up to go along with the pints and craic.

But this list is for those of you who are bang in the city centre, on foot and looking for ‘pub food near me’. We’ve picked seven of the best gastropubs for grub within a 10 minute walk of Grafton Street, so you don’t need to travel far.

Pub food ‘near me’ in Dublin city centre

Bar Rua, Clarendon Street

A very convenient pub down a side street from Grafton Street, Bar Rua is a great spot for either a few drinks or some drinks and a bite to eat.

They have a lovely outdoor area, perfect for people watching, if the weather is behaving, while inside it is a modern twist on a traditional Irish pub with comfortable seating in a bright setting thanks to their many windows.

Food wise, it has something for everyone, fish and chips and their burgers are particularly popular while chicken wings, wraps and even cheeseboards mean there is plenty of choice here.

Try a pint from their craft beer list to wash it down and stay a bit longer on Friday or Saturday for the music to begin.

Sinnotts Bar, King Street

One of the city’s best sports bars, Sinnott’s also has an extensive menu of bar food to line your stomach before a day of drinking or even if you want to pop in solely for something to eat.

Starters include chicken wings, soup, nachos and bruschetta and are all priced in and around €10 to €15, the soup being a bit cheaper than that.

When it comes to mains, it has the kind of food you’d expect, stew, fish and chips, steak sandwiches, steak, a selection of burgers and some salads. These are priced more in the €18 range, some slightly more and some slightly less. A dessert menu is also available if you’re there for a full meal.

It is highly regarded in the city and a hit with locals as well as tourists.

Lennan’s Yard, Dawson Street

A quite upmarket gastropub with a beautiful interior, sun trap of a courtyard and really well done food menu which is hugely popular in the city.

The menu is extensive with plenty of pub classics like fish and chips, burgers and seafood chowder, smaller plates like chicken wings, tacos and a very nicely priced soup and a toastie for €12.

The menu also includes snacks like smoked almonds and mac and cheese bites.

The Hairy Lemon, Stephen Street Lower

One of the most famous pubs in the city centre, The Hairy Lemon is pretty much always busy, a sure sign that it’s doing something right.

Sitting across two floors, the pub is a great drinking spot with plenty of different drinks on tap, but its food menu is something that really gives this establishment its reputation.

It serves breakfast from 10am until 11:45am if you’re looking to begin your day with a full Irish or some avocado on toast. The lunch and dinner menu then is wide-ranging, with everything from sandwiches, wraps and soup to stew, bangers and mash, Dublin favourite coddle, burgers and curry.

Price wise, you’ll likely come out with change of €20 for most things on the menu, with a few tipping slightly over that.

Tapped, Nassau Street

One of the newer additions to the city centre, Tapped is a vibrant, trendy pub with a massive selection of beers on tap, as the name might suggest, which also has a great menu that goes very well with a few pints, and for decent prices.

They have a number of pizzas ranging from €15.50 to €17, burgers which come in about a euro or two cheaper than that, sharing platters, tenders, chicken wings, nachos, burrito bowls and much more.

It’s a great location if you’re starting a night out with a quick bite to eat before going on a pub crawl or just staying put for a few drinks.

O’Neill’s pub, Suffolk Street

O’Neill’s Pub on Suffolk Street is a quintessential Dublin institution with over 300 years of history.

Family-run since 1927, it boasts a labyrinth of cozy snugs, rich wood interiors, and a treasure trove of memorabilia. The menu features all-day full Irish breakfasts, a renowned carvery with dishes like roast lamb and beef & Guinness stew, fresh seafood platters, and vegetarian options.

O’Neill’s also offers an impressive selection of over 260 whiskeys, and one of the largest range of Irish craft beers on draught.

Tucker Reilly’s, Camden Street

A classic pub with a modern twist, Tucker Reilly’s is right in the city centre and is home to some high quality food, more so akin to a restaurant rather than under the label of pub grub.

The menu includes starts such as soup, chicken tenders, chicken wings and chorizo sausage. Much of these are priced at €15 or under. Next on the list is the mains, they are the familiar staples like fish and chips; bangers and mash; beef burgers and more like this, again come in around the €20 mark.

Other mains include a variety of rolls with chips, coming in around €16. Messy fries, a sharing board and a selection of desserts are the other options.

Other than the food, the lovely interior with comfortable seating, dim lighting and plenty of space make it a great place to visit, it’s also a very popular sports bar with many screens.
