Sick of the normal mundane Dublin pub and looking for something different? The city is full of places that are very similar so it can feel tough to find a bar with a twist.

But instead of walking all around Dublin looking for these places, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite spots that are a bit quirky and cool.

Missing any from this list? Let us know in the comments.

Jackie’s – Dublin 8

A 90s themed pub in Dublin 8 where you can get some throwback sweets and crisps to go along with your selection of pints from the tap or nostalgic cocktails.

Like the many other great Dublin pizza spots, Jackies also offer a fine selection of pizza if you’re hungry so it’s very much a pub that appeals to everyone.

The Blind Pig – Suffolk Street

Dublin 2’s The Bling Pig is an underground speakeasy bar specialising in some of the finest cocktails the capital has to offer.

Labelled as “Dublin’s best kept secret”, The Blind Pig offers a unique setting perfect for a date or just a few drinks with your friends.

777 – George’s Street

A Mexican restaurant and bar that mixes dive bar vibes with a modern cocktail venue and does it brilliantly.

Sitting on one of Dublin’s busiest streets, the small venue is usually packed and doesn’t take bookings for smaller groups but for drinks and no food you could be lucky.

The food is up there as possibly the best in Dublin if you’re looking for a meal and some drinks to follow.

John’s Bar & Haberdasher – Thomas Street

A pub steeped in history, John’s Bar in Thomas Street attempts to preserve its past and gets top marks for doing exactly that.

The site was excavated in recent years where timber beams, including some with the name John Creeth were uncovered – the haberdasher who operated here under lease in the 1850s – and remain preserved in the pub, along with a number of other bits and bobs from a different era.

Definitely a pub that should be on your list to try.

Peruke & Periwig – Dawson Street

An award winning cocktail bar on the thriving Dawson Street, but with a twist, Peruke & Periwig will make you feel like you’ve stepped back into the 18th century with their historic decorations.

Set across three different floors, it’s a bar where you’re guaranteed a well-prepared drink in a beautiful setting.

The Barbers Bar – Grangegorman

With all the appearance of a barber shop, The Barbers in Grangegorman is a bit of a hidden gem in an area full of unique pubs.

Once you step inside it’s a different experience from your average pub and with patrons encouraged to bring dogs, it only adds to the already unique vibe.
