When heading to Dublin on holiday you’re likely to be drawn into the obvious tourist spots, and why not? They’re often good craic and recommended for a reason.

But a lot of tourists head to the city hoping to drink like a local but can’t find anything on Google except the usual Temple Bar spots.

And while Temple Bar is definitely worth a visit when a tourist in Ireland, it’s not exactly where you’ll find an abundance of Dubliners – but here are the places you most definitely will.

The Long Hall – George’s Street

Regarded as one of the most loved traditional pubs in the city, The Long Hall is loved by Dubliners and tourists alike and will give you that real Dublin feel.

The Victorian setting is home to one of the oldest pubs in Dublin, having served pints to the locals for decades now.

You won’t find any TVs inside, just the chatter of happy drinkers in a truly beautiful setting – put it on your list!

Toners – Baggot Street

Another of the city’s oldest pubs and known by many locals as having the best pint of Guinness in Dublin, although you’ll have plenty of spots that beg to differ.

But most importantly for this list, it’s not some tourist trap kind of bar that will overcharge you, they have standard prices and great service.

Here you’ll feel like a proper local as you sup on a great pint of Guinness.

The Stag’s Head – Dame Street

Good food, traditional music and great pints, this atmospheric pub is a great spot to snuggle up and enjoy a drink in a beautifully decorated pub.

This place is a great mix of tourists and locals so you could spark up a conversation with someone from pretty much anywhere.

Like the majority of traditional pubs in the city, it prides itself on a good pint of the black stuff.

Grogan’s – South William Street

On the vibrant South William Street, Grogan’s is a great place to drink in the sun with a huge crowd usually gathering in the outside seating area on a nice day after work.

Good Guinness, a good atmosphere and a great place to chat while people watching the many people walking passed – this should be high on the list.
